When you do good for someone
Don't make it about you
You know the kind, I'm sure
The ones who play a part
Who turn the prayer room and the street into a stage
Kind as long as someone's looking
Playing to the crowd
They get their applause — and that is all they get
When you help someone out
Don't stop to watch how it looks
Just do it
Quiet, and out of sight
Just do it
Just do it
Just do it
Quiet, and out of sight
Just do it
That is the way your Father
Who made you out of love
Working behind the scenes
Sees — and helps you out
He helps you out
Behind the scenes
He helps you out
He helps you out
Behind the scenes
He helps you out
He helps you out
Behind the scenes
He helps you out
He helps you out
Behind the scenes
So we do not lose heart
How could we!
We don't lose heart
We don't lose heart
We don't lose heart
Even though on the outside
We are wearing away
On the inside
Where God is making us new
He renews us day after day
These hard days weigh little
Next to what is coming
What we cannot see now
Will last forever
Last forever
Last forever
There is more here than we can see
What we see now is here today
Gone tomorrow
But what we cannot see
Will last forever
These hard days weigh little
Next to the days to come
The feast that is prepared for us
That is the way your Father
Who made you out of love
Working behind the scenes
Sees — and helps you out
