066-01

Before we begin
A small question

You are here
You are breathing
Your heart is moving blood
Through chambers
It did not design
That blood carries cobalt
Forged in a star
That died
Before this planet existed

You did not ask for any of this
You arrived already equipped
For something
You had not yet been told

What you are about to hear
Is not a sermon
It is not a proof
It is a question
That has been building
Since the first element
Found its place

The question is simple
It has travelled
From before the first star
To arrive at your ear

If the universe
Was prepared
With this much patience
What was it prepared
For?

The answer is not thunder
It is not a temple
It is not a title
Kept at careful distance

It is a word
A child uses
Without thinking twice
Abba

That word
Crossed a garden at night
It did not stop the darkness
It held someone
Inside the darkness
That is different

What follows is the story
Of how the farthest God
Became the nearest name
Not by becoming smaller
By letting us
Finally
Come close enough
To hear

Our Father
Not mine alone
