I must tell you
About my neighbor
She also cooks
She also calls
She uses
My exact words

Loud she sits
At the door of her house
On a seat
In the heights of the town
Calling out to those
Who pass by straight
Whoever is simple
Turn in here

Word for word
What Wisdom said
Check it
Word for word

Two tables in one town
Two open doors
Almost the same
Invitation
The difference is never
In the calling
The difference
Is what is served

Stolen water is sweet
Bread eaten in secret
Is pleasant
That is the whole menu
Notice what it needs
To taste of anything

The theft
The secret
The dark
Nothing on this table
Survives daylight

And what the guests
Do not know
The ones who entered
Before them
Did not leave

Her house
Has one door
And many floors
All of them
Downward

Two tables in one town
Two open doors
Almost the same
Invitation
The difference is never
In the calling
The difference
Is what is served

So test every invitation
By its kitchen
Mixed wine
Or stolen water
Bread on the table
Or bread in the dark
Both doors are open
Both cooks are calling

Choose
By the light
The meal can stand
